How long will crushed malt last for?

By storing the malt whole it ensures that the moisture levels are maintained, once crushed it will slowly dry out and loose that freshness. However there are many breweries that will have crushed malt for themselves and have it sitting there for months. Personally we always use malt within a week of having it milled, but many others will go longer than this.
