Come enjoy the experience of brewing all grain here at The Malt Miller on our Grainfather Brewing Stations. No brewing experience is required, as one of our experienced instructors will guide you through the complete process from start to finish. This is a hands on experience, you will be brewing your own beer on your own Grainfather work station. This is unlike any other brew days available, you won’t be sitting down in a class room, you won’t be part of a large group, it’s an individual experience of brewing beer from grain, just like the pros.
At the end of the day each brewer will take away roughly 40 pints ( 23 litres ) of wort to ferment at home, the fermenter and yeast are included in the price for the booking.
We offer the choice of brewing on either the Grainfather G30ᵌ, if you choose this option you will be brewing the ever-popular Boy Taylor, Timothy Taylor clone recipe. However if you choose the Grainfather G40, you’ll be brewing our Strata Nevada Recipe, which is a gorgeous American pale ale inspired by the timeless Sierra Nevada Pale Ale but featuring the new and popular Strata Hop variety!
A great part of the day is due to being here at The Malt Miller, all brewers will have the opportunity to discover the amazing flavours that can be produced using the 110 different types of malt, over 200 hops and 350 yeast that we carry as stock. You’ll get a tour of the facility here at The Malt Miller and see how we handle customer orders and the range of ingredients we stock.
This is an unrivalled voyage of discovery and will be of huge benefit to both the new and experienced brewer.
We offer a Brew Day – After school packaging kit which will give you all the items you need when it comes to packing your beer into bottles, you could also pick up some of our Coopers Screw top PET beer bottles if you like so that you will have enough bottles to pack your beer into after fermentation.
Lunch is provided, if you have specific dietary requirements please let us know in advance and we’ll do our best to accommodate them. Your experience with us will last approximately 5 hours with a 9.30 start and finish expected around 1.30pm/2.00pm
Henry *****: “I can recommend the day to anyone starting out home brewing, to those who, like myself, have had some experience with the Grainfather (5 brews) but want to learn how to really get the best out of it from the experts.
Martin ensured we all got plenty of one to one observation and guidance and the team downstairs were very helpful in making the day run smoothly. As per usual, nothing is too much trouble for these guys and their experience, coupled with the Malt Miller’s selection of ingredients and equipment, is second to none. I can’t recommend them and the day enough!!”
