I’ve had the Grainfather since August 19 and it’s a genuine pleasure to use. Yes I have made sensible mod, like a cam-lock for the sparge arm, but that was for additional unnecessary convenience. I recommend checking out (In addition to the Malt Millers YouTube vids) The Beardy Man, Homebrew with Griffo and Gary James all on YouTube to see it being used in action and for hints and tips.
Everything that comes with it is a real boost over kettle and cooler-tun brewing, recirculated mashes and the counterflow wort chiller are superb. I’ve since purchased additional add-ons, but that was to suit my specific need. My only niggle is that you can’t programme in gradual stepped mashes, but I’m sure that could be added on to the app if if was requested enough.
I know some people have had issues with the app (I haven’t) but I’d always recommend a back up paper brew day sheet and you can manually control it if you need to. I love the delayed start for heating the mash water. All in all I love the G30 and would only replace it with the Brewtools 40 if I won the lottery!
If purchasing I would recommend the Grainfather High performance cleaner AND the small batch pipework, as one is essential and the other will help ease you into it (like I wish I had).
