Description

NOTE:

Throughout 2022 hop growers experienced a combination of unusual weather conditions to the detriment of the hops:   First, it was hailstorms in Spring that damaged the young bine.  Second, it was heat and drought conditions which caused many problems for the oldest varieties in the range.

Hallertau Mittelfruh yielded 50% below the normal output in a good year. The newer ones have fared slightly better, but the shortage overall is totalling 12,000 Tonnes in Germany. Due to this shortage we have purchased extra 2021 harvest hops to help ensure that our customers get a quality product and so that we have enough available for your brewing needs in 2023.

A delicate aroma hop used mainly over the years in Lager type beers. However, it has also been successful in the production of some of the lighter English cask conditioned ales.

Hallertau Mittelfrüh is the land variety of the area of Hallertau with a very noble and typical aroma. Due to its susceptibility for wilt this variety almost dissappeared. The high demand and virus free root stock contributed to a successful comeback.
