Torrside Brewing – Fire Damage
Torrside Brewing is based in New Mills, in Derbyshire’s High Peak, on the north-west edge of the Peak District. The brewery sits alongside a marina on the Peak Forest Canal. New Mills stands at the confluence of the rivers Goyt and Sett, above the Torrs, a 70-foot-deep gorge cut by the rivers, which gives the brewery its name. Torrside hosts several open days each year, and the three brewers (all former award-winning home brewers) are always happy to give interested visitors a tour.
Inspired by the Rauchbier styles of Germany, this dry smoked stout was the first beer that Torrside produced. Flavours of caramel and dark chocolate sit atop the gently smoked flavour of the German beechwood-smoked pale malt. This beer is perfect for sipping by the fire and would pair brilliantly with some extra dark chocolate.

Every effort is made to match the brewery recipe precisely, but at times it maybe necessary to change some of the listed ingredients on the recipe to alternatives due to seasonality or availability, but in all cases we do our best replace with something that won’t impact on the overall taste and flavour of the beer.
