Pulp is a big 8% ABV double IPA that hides its strength dangerously well. A chewy body in a hazy golden package underpins the bold fruity flavours and aromas. Dextrose is used in the boil to aid fermentability of the wort, and the use of wheat and oats in the grist help add body. A combination of American and Australian hop varietals bring notes of mango and grapefruit.

Verdant Brewing Co - Pulp - BB: 13/04/2024

The original DIPA is a juicy beast with a hint of extra bitterness at the back end. Citra leads the way with backup from Galaxy, Ekuanot and Columbus

Verdant – Pulp

Verdant’s incredible rise to international acclaim starts with a story of home brewers with a dream. The Falmouth-based brewery started life as a part-time operation in 2014. Based in a shipping container, their initial brews were released in tiny 200 litre batches and they couldn’t brew enough to keep up with their growing demand. In early 2016, they expanded to a 10-barrel operation in dedicated premises and ended the year being named by beer rating site RateBeer as England’s best new brewery. They still haven’t caught up with demand for their trademark hazy and juicy hop-forward beers and cans fly off shelves up and down the country.

Every effort is made to match the brewery recipe precisely, but at times it maybe necessary to change some of the listed ingredients on the recipe to alternatives due to seasonality or availability, but in all cases we do our best replace with something that won’t impact on the overall taste and flavour of the beer.

Love this brew,Anyone tried brewing this one with the verdant ipa dried yeast? If so how many packs as only one us05 in recipe

  2. Julian Lane (verified owner)

This is a fantastic beer. It’s got a beautiful hazy golden colour, with a really lovely mouth feel, and a really zesty taste. You are left with a subtle bitter aftertaste.
It was easy to brew and is my best beer to date. Will definitely order more when it’s back in stock

  3. Nigel Macey (verified owner)

    This is a fantastic kit!.👍🏼🍺
I made it with the Lalbrew Verdant ipa dry yeast that i had already purchased (1 pkt).
I bottled half and kegged the rest.
Highly recommended and a strong beer.I will definitely buy again but i will try the Vic Secret hop version next time just to compare the difference the hops make, and i will use the Verdant ipa dry yeast again.

No idea how you get 1073 out of this. Didn’t even hit 1060!

    • Robert Neale

The recipe is based on Grainfathers mash efficiency of 80%. This is a 20 litre batch, did you add the sugar? With ready made recipes there is not a “one size fits all” so knowing your system helps with hitting your number successfully and recipes can be adapted.

  5. Bradley Thomas (verified owner)

    Awesome beer.
Didn’t quite hit my mash efficiencies so it came out to 7.4%.
It’s got a slightly bready American wheat character to it, and with the boil additions it does have a fair bitterness so it’s not totally sticky/dank. I love it.
My only complaint would be a single pack of US-05 feels like a fairly significant underpitch, it took a while to get going and finish up, but it got from 1068 to 1012 in the end anyway

    • Robert Neale

Hi Bradley, checking the stats on US-05, the pitching rate is .5g per litre and it is good for up to 11% so all ok for a 20 litre batch.
Really want to try this brew with a Belgian style yeast!

  6. Sam Parker (verified owner)

Can anyone share the page from the Camra brewing book with the instructions for this recipe? Rubbish to sell a kit with no instructions.

  7. ARTUR NIEMCZYK (verified owner)

Hi, secondary addition of hops ‘day 7’ means that I should put hops to FV on day 7 of fermentation or just put them when fermentation is almost finish and keep the hops inside the FV for next 7 days. I am newbie so I am little bit confused. Thanks!

    • Robert Neale

Hello Artur, Yes, add the hops 7 days after adding the yeast.
