Advanced Hop Product Only Pale Ale!!! This recipe kit by Mark and Penny over at The Oyster Boys uses no hop pellets or leaf but instead features only advanced hop products from BarthHaas!!

“I threw this beer together to take along to my local homebrew club after having discussions about advanced hop products, and it really shows off Citra. A simple beer with one malt and one hop variety. I cant bring myself to call it a SMASH because I dont know how they make Flex.

Get yourself a calpol syringe for dosing the Flex, but dont taste it. Its disgusting.

This recipe is for 23L but due to the fact you wont have any losses from hop absorption you may end up with closer to 25L (I did with mine)”

THE BOIL

Hop / kettle additions and timing:

5ml Flex

Whirlpool / hop stand:

1 packet Incognito Citra

Yeast: Lallemand Verdant IPA Yeast (1 packet)
Fermentation temperature/steps: 19 degrees until finished, raise to 22 for D rest, chill and carbonate.

Secondary additions:

Transfer to a keg and then add the packet of Spectrum Citra.

Once added, purge any oxygen from the keg using co2, and once you are sure it is all gone give it a little shake to mix things through.
