Description
Fresh Wort Kits are an amazing way to produce commercial quality beer at home with basic equipment. No experience of home brewing is required, simply follow the instructional videos and share awesome beer with your friends and family.
For more advanced brewers this kit ships without yeast, the idea being the brewer can use any yeast they wish to personalise the final product.
Unlike traditional beer kits that are made from malt extract, our Fresh Wort Kits are dispensed directly from Gritchie’s brew house into bag in a box style packaging. This allows the fresh flavours the team at Gritchie magic into their wort are available for our customers to easily complete the brewing process at home. Simply pour the Fresh Wort Kit into a fermenter and add the yeast. Your beer will be ready to drink in approximately two to three weeks.
Dry hopping. If your kit contains dry hops, these need adding when fermentation is almost complete. Leave them in contact with the beer for 3 days. When the beer is at a stable, final gravity reduce the temperature of the beer as much as possible. This will cause the dry hops to drop out of the beer into the trub at the bottle of the fermenter. This should be below the level of the tap in the fermenter allowing the beer to be drained off to another vessel ( racking ) or direct to bottles or kegs. A hop sock can be used to contain the pellets, this method is recommended if getting the fermenter cold is not an option.
Our Fresh Wort Kits are exclusively made by Gritchie Brewing Company, located in Ashmore, Wiltshire. Their incredible range of cask, bottled and canned beers are created by their amazing head brewer Alix Blease and head of operations Kane Upton. The brewery is positioned in the middle of the Ashcombe Estate where the malting barley variety Maris Otter is grown. It is this very malted barley that is used to produce their beers, including our fresh wort kits. Keeping ingredients as local as possible, Gritchie Brewing Company also have their own bore hole allowing water for the brewing process is drawn. This gives their beers, and our fresh wort kits a terroir, hugely important to any beer drinker.
Gritchie x The Malt Miller Bourne West Coast IPA – 20 Litre Fresh Wort Kit
Classic West Coast IPA featuring Centennial hops for crisp, citrus aroma and flavour. Good malt body backed up by the use of Munich, this is a malt sweet beer rather than a sweet beer which makes it very drinkable. The included Centennial dry hops add to the citrus and soft pine notes making this a really crushable beer. Our yeast choice of NBS West Coast is a dry, neutral yeast that makes the flavour of the hops shine.

I bought a chubby and got this at a discount. Added 100g of centennial. It’s not the most attractive of brews but goes down a treat. Waiting, as always, is best. Thoroughly enjoyed this brew.
