“We want to buy this coffee every year, forever, it’s brilliant!
Kibingo serves 3,515 growers spread over 18 hills in the area and can process 750,000kg of coffee cherry per day. The station is operated by Greenco, an NGO dedicated to improving the quality of life and quality of coffee in one of the world’s poorest regions.
Once sorted and pulped, this coffee is placed in an airtight concrete fermentation tank. Coffee-specific Cima yeast is then added before covering the tank to ferment for approximately 36 hours.
If you’d like to know more about yeast fermentation, you can email [email protected]… he loves talking about it.”
About Cuppers Choice
With credit cards maxed and very little foresight, we set out with the goal of addressing some of the systemic issues which plague our beloved industry.
Another goal was to be successful enough in doing this to pay our bills and maybe take our partners on holiday once a year.
We don’t want to say that we buy ethically. Fact is, we can pat ourselves on the back for the trade partners we’ve selected and the lots we’ve purchased but until we’re on the ground making a tangible difference with our own hands and capital, it’s not enough.
We trade with the following partners: Caravela, Kamba, Raw Material, Algrano, Cafe Imports and Sucafina.
We’ve traded directly with Emmanuel Rusatira of Baho coffee in Rwanda and we’re in talks with Thomas’ cousins in Yemen.
We’re working on sharing our story with you in a more comprehensive way but it’s hard when it keeps evolving so quickly, and Squarespace keeps crashing.
Here at The Malt Miller we are focused on finding new and interesting Coffee for you to enjoy at home either as a stand alone beverage or for you to brew beer with. We offer the option for your coffee to be ground to order or for you to have it delivered as whole beans, all in quantity’s that you specific and work for your needs.
We offer the option to grind coffee for either filter or espresso. We grind your coffee for a generic setting that will suit a lot of purposes, if you choose espresso grind please note this has been set to grind for a “pressurised” machine that you might find in most domestic settings however if you have a more advanced espresso machine we would recommend whole bean and grinding at home so you can dial in your perfect shot.
