Mash notes: Stepped mash profile is used to maximise the fermentable sugars from the grain, this will result in a beer with deeper malt character and bready notes. Once you have mashed in at 52c immediately start to raise to the next step of 62c.

THE BOIL
Boil time (mins): 60

Hop / kettle additions and timing:

65g Hallertauer Mittelfruh @ 60min
10g Hallertauer Mittelfruh @ 30min
20g Hallertauer Mittelfruh @ 5min

Yeast: LalBrew NovaLager
Fermentation temperature/steps: 12c – 7-14 days

Secondary additions:

This beer would benefit from kettle fining to be added for improved clarity.

Comments:

Wait until you beer wort reaches a strong rolling boil before starting the boil timer. This will aid in driving off DMS from the wort. Failure to drive off DMS will result in a beer with a vegetal, cabbage like profile.

We suggest that after you have packaged the beer it is stored cold for 4-8 week for the lagering process to take place. Your flavours will round out, the malty notes will come through and the beer will develop into a drink that you will want to return to over and over again.

Brewed this just after Christmas to take advantage of the cold weather as I still can’t chill my fermenter. It has turned out absolutely amazing after the four week lagering period. Been on gas in the kegorator for a few weeks now and it is superb. I used water chemistry too. No off flavours whatsoever either. Really recommend you try this kit. It’s great price too!

  2. roger pulley (verified owner)

69yr old, brewing 50yrs, says this kit produces a perfect Munich lager, brewed at 20c for 12 days, lagered in fridge at 3c for 8 weeks, best beer ever.

  3. Matthew Holloway (verified owner)

I have now brewed this beer four times, all of which have turned out great. Estimated FG is 1.009, and my brewing software estimates 1.010, but it’s never gone below 1.016 so the beer turns out a little fuller than expected – but still great! Great price for a great beer.
