We manufacture our Rainbow Trugs with premium quality low density polyethylene which complies with all EU and US (FDA) manufacturing standards.

Rainbow Trugs

Prior to 2010, we were selling a variety of well-known brands of flexible tubs, many of which were imported. We were never happy with the quality of these tubs as the sides were thin and flimsy and distorted before they were even used! We decided that our customers deserved better quality tubs and so we started to design our own brand of trugs. After many months of designing and refining, the first Rainbow Trug was born.

We are passionate about Rainbow Trugs and work tirelessly to design and manufacture exceptional quality products for our customers. Made in Britain from a premium food grade material and with thicker sidewalls, we knew that we had developed a product that customers had longed for. Rainbow Trugs are also UV Stable and Food Safe as they are 100% free from harmful phthalates which means that they are suitable for feeding livestock, storing food and perfectly safe for children. The high percentage of returning customers and recommendations prove our belief in good design and quality.

Supporting local companies is important to us. As well as designing and manufacturing our trugs here in Worcestershire, most of our suppliers are based within a 25 mile radius which not only helps the local economy, it also reduces our carbon footprint. We have formed strong working relationships with our suppliers which helps maintain quality and reduces supply issues.

The list of uses for Rainbow Trugs is mind blowing! Here are just a few examples: gardening, laundry baskets, brewing, food preparation, toy tidies, school storage, sand pits, plant pots, camping etc.

Product Testing

Our first Rainbow Trug was designed to be of a better quality than was available on the market at that time. This still continues today and our current range of Rainbow Trugs have been refined further due to a combination of cutting edge mould design and use of premium, food grade plastic polymers.

Handles are the main working part of a trug and so when it came to designing our Rainbow Trugs, we spent a lot of time to ensure they were as strong as we could possibly make them. In August 2021 we sent every size of Rainbow Trug to RoTech Laboratories (now part of BES Group), an independent product testing laboratory, for handle weight tests and the results were amazing. The picture shown here is one of our 45 litre trugs undergoing the test and the chart shows the maximum load taken by the two handles on all our trug sizes before the trug broke.

So how have we done this? Well, without giving too much away, the premium food grade plastic polymer that we use in all our trugs is an important factor. However, the advanced design of our Rainbow Trug moulds and the computer controlled injection process ensures, the consistent flow of polymer required for a quality product.

Having worked tirelessly on our products for many years, we were especially confident our trug handles were stronger and more durable than other similar products on the market, but how do we show this? This is when we turned to RoTech Laboratories in Wednedbury, West Midlands. We found Rotech to be easy to work with, professional and understood our requirements fully. They performed all the tests and issued reports within a short timescale and can highly recommend their services.
