Cleaning and sanitising should be looked at as a two stage process, using the correct product for each step. As brewers we are now lucky enough to be able to use professional quality products at home. No longer is it needed to use harmful, chlorine based cleaner/sanitisers that need rinsing and can leave taint on some materials. Also, the chlorine cleaners are not recommended for use use on stainless as extended use can cause pitting.
This sanitising and cleaning kit does exactly as it says on the tin. Use the PBW to clean stubborn and dried on protein from any brewing and dispense equipment, follow the instructions, especially note that it is best used hot. Once equipment is clean it can then be sanitised using the Star San. Star San is a true no rinse sanitiser that is used at a dose rate of 1.5ml to every litre of water. It can be used in a spray bottle, soaked or wiped onto any hard surface and it does not effect flavour or head retention.
