This product is your official entry to the Elusive Brewing 7th Birthday Home Brew Comp.

It is made up of the following products:
3kg of Simpsons Low Colour Maris Otter malt – ensure to select your preferred crush
100g of Strata T90 Hop Pellets

The rules so please read these carefully!

Strictly one entry per person. Anyone found to have entered twice will be disqualified completely.

Your beer should be packaged (3 x brown bottles or cans, 330ml or bigger) and must reach The Malt Miller on or before 31st August.
Late entries will not be accepted. Clear bottles will not be accepted. Panda Pop bottles will not be accepted.

Ensure that each of the packaged beers are clearly labelled with Entry Number and no other distinguishable markings on the bottles. We have a Download template you can use to make this easier.

The beer must have been brewed fresh between your entry being secured and the delivery deadline. We’ve allowed three months for this. Aged beers will not be accepted.

The winner will be announced after judging has taken place in early September and the judge’s decision is final in all matters.

UK based entrants only. All entrants must be over 18.

 

 

So, what are we looking for in the winning beer?

Commercial viability. We’d like you to submit the recipe with your beer and price to brew, scaled to 20L at 75% efficiency. We’ll use these when judging the final round to help us choose the winner. Choose and use your ingredients judiciously and get the most bang for your buck.

Think like a pro. We want you to brew a beer that’s accessible and would sell well. Have a look at ours or your favourite brewery’s core line up for inspiration. What do you think they sell the most of and why is that? You’ll probably be aiming for something 3.5-5.5% ABV. A word from the wise as a Pro youd need to pay duty, then make a margin yourself and provide a margin to resellers too so price is very key when designing a recipe.

Your entry kit will include 3Kg of our house base malt, which is Simpson’s Low Colour Maris Otter, along with 100g of one of our favourite new hops Strata. You don’t need to use these in your recipe, either the one you enter or the one we create together should you win.

 

The 150 competition kits will go on sale on Wednesday the 24th of May at 11am.

We would suggest you can start to build your basket with your ingredients for your brew prior to this so all you then need to do is add your entry kit and pay one lot of shipping.

Unfortunately due to the number of entries involved and the small team of judging it is not possible to give feedback on entries in this competition. Only those that reach the final round will be able to contact us for brief feedback notes.
