Description
Controlling your fermentation temperature is the biggest thing you can do as a home brewer to improve your beer. Here we always try to help others learn this concept. With this kit you’re well on your way to achieving this in your brewing journey.
Yeast is a living organism and, like us, doesn’t like to be uncomfortable! Ales enjoy a cosy 18-21c where as lagers prefer things colder, 8-12c. When yeast operates outside of its comfort zone it can produce off flavours or stall it’s fermentation. Taking control of the temperature allows you to reduce this and make cleaner, fresher tasting beer.
This bundle has a heat mat for you to place your fermenter on, an inkbird temperature controller to maintain temperatures and a thermowell so the probe on the inkbird gets an accurate reading.
If you wanted to raise your game further then pick up a fridge big enough to fit your fermenter. Plug the fridge into the cold side of the inkbird and you’ll be able to heat and also cool your fermentation.
You’ll be able to brew any style of beer all years round! Lagers will stay nice and chilly, even in the summer and ales will be warm in the winter. You’ll even be able to cold crash your beer if its in a fridge, helping drop all hops and yeast out of the beer before you package.
Please note, your fermenter will need a 21mm hole cut into it to fit the thermowell. This is easily done on a plastic bucket fermenter, we recommend that its located in the side of the vessel, approximately half way up and not on the plastic seam.
