Description
Five years on and Five Points Best remains a firm favourite with homebrewers and pint-seekers alike. We first launched the original all-grain recipe kit after Jonny Garrett of The Craft Beer Channel brewed it with Five Points co-founder Greg during the summer 2020 lockdown, this classic Best Bitter still delivers subtle complexity, rich malt character and heaps of Fuggle hops. For 2025 the recipe has been refreshed and, in our view, improved: a late addition of Hukins-grown Earnest hops brings a bright, fruit-salad aroma and extra nuance without losing the smooth drinkability that made it a hit. Our updated all-grain kit lets you recreate the new version at home, capturing everything that makes the pub pint so satisfying. Follow Jonny’s original video for tips on brewing and even serving through a traditional beer engine if you want the full cask experience at home. To celebrate the update, Five Points are offering 15% off bottles of “Best” when you buy this updated kit, we’ll email you code after you’ve purchased the kit. Brew it, pour it, and raise a glass to one of Britain’s finest modern bitters—now with an extra touch of vibrant hop character.
Enjoy this modern classic in your own home, this is best served through a hand pull or served from the bottle.
Five Points Best is a single-hopped Best Bitter, brewed with Fuggle hops from Hukins Hops. Refreshing and smooth, Best has notes of caramel and biscuit, and a lovely grassy, herbal freshness that makes you want to reach for another one.
Five Points Best celebrates both the history of British brewing and the modern craft beer movement. It showcases the Five Points take on beer: influenced by the past but brewed very much for the present. Because, we reckon, why should modern beer always mean new beer styles?

I was inspired to brew this after trying the a five Points beer at the CAMRA Pig’s Ear beer festival in East London. It was a fabulous beer and I just had to brew one. I am not disappointed with the result, this is a truly good beer. I do not have fancy brewing kit and don’t get into water treatment or anything complicated, just water from the tap (albeit filtered). Highly recommended.

It tuned out pretty well. Had to add 20 grams of extra hop pallets to the boil to get to the 35 IBU. The supplied hops do not give the bitterness.
