Why Am I Like This?

WEST COAST IPA   6% ABV

“Why am I like this?”, a lovely 6% West Coast IPA first (and last) brewed in 2022. Back then, we took learnings from our West Coast style fresh hop beers, resulting in this punchy mother-daughter hop affair!  Bitter, dry but smooth feels with masses of pine sap, grapefruit, tropical notes and dank.

For this rebrew, we used hops from this year’s Yakima Hop Selection tour, where our very own Lawrence, Sam and Tim selected Citra, Mosaic and Simcoe hop varietals in both T90 and Cryo formats. The whole process took nearly three hours, and it was great to bounce thoughts around and dive into the technical analysis before making our choices. We feel we’ve chosen some cracking lots, full of depth and complexity. We are really excited to finally see these hops in action in our first West Coast IPA of 2026!

Malt : Extra Pale, Dextrin, Premium English Caramalt, Caramalt

Hops : Mosaic, Simcoe

Yeast : Chico

In 2014, Verdant started to make beers that we love. Nothing’s changed. It’s still about taste, quality, and all ’round deliciousness. Think juicy, hoppy, unfiltered, hazy beers that are always vegan! That’s us. We also love to explore from time to time, brewing lagers, stouts, cask ales… We’re independent, and always will be — that way we can continue to push boundaries and make beer we love, and hopefully, you will love them too.

Verdant began life back in Autumn 2014 when homebrewers Adam and James teamed up with Rich to craft US-inspired beers that weren’t available locally. Since then the team has continued to grow alongside the demand for our beer! We’re now a team of 30 people, all driven by the same passion. Our ethos revolves around brewing the flavour-packed beers we love to drink, and ensuring that beer lovers have access to delicious, quality-driven releases week after week. We are also proud to welcome and embrace all the diversity that this industry has to offer, anyone is welcome here at Verdant. We strive to ensure a workplace that is centred on inclusion and diversity.

Hoppy, juicy, hazy, unfiltered, vegan-friendly beers!

When Verdant began to bloom, back in 2014, we decided that our focus would be hop-forward beers inspired by the New England craft beer scene. Over the past few years, we’ve become synonymous with hop-forward beer styles including Pale Ale, IPA & DIPA. We’ve placed an emphasis on balance and drinkability while taking inspiration from the beers of both the East and West Coasts of the United States. We also love exploring different styles and are regularly brewing Lagers, as well as luscious stouts over the winter period.

All beer from Indie Beer Fridge is individually selected from the finest breweries, we work closely with the breweries to bring you beer and brewing knowledge, be sure to check out our YouTube channel for exclusive content about many of the breweries we select.
