A crisp, sessionable American Pale Ale recipe designed for home brewing, perfect for easy drinking during the Football World Cup and inspired by classic US craft beer styles. Built on a clean Extra Pale malt base with a touch of Vienna for colour and wheat malt for improved body and head retention, this home brew delivers balance and drinkability. Columbus and Chinook hops take the lead, bringing bold pine, resin and citrus character typical of traditional American hops, making this a go-to home brewing recipe for fans of West Coast flavour. Fermented with WHC LAX yeast, the profile stays clean and neutral, allowing the malt and hop combination to shine.
To enhance hop aroma and flavour in your home brewing setup, this recipe includes an optional two-stage whirlpool addition. This technique helps layer hop character, maximising both depth and expression from Columbus and Chinook. You can keep things simple with a single addition, or follow the step-by-step method below to get more out of your hops.
