Description
The Chubby Apollo P.E.T. Fermenter is the latest barrel-shaped Pressure Fermenter. Made in Australia and individually pressure tested, these tanks offer more convenient single batch capacity and boast a larger tank opening for ergonomic handling and cleaning.
Made from BPA-free, bottle-grade PET plastic, the Chubby Apollo is a 30L Pressure Fermenter and Keg capable of fermenting up to 23-25L of wort under pressure and is pressure-rated up to 5 bar, making it safe for pressure fermentation.
Fermenting under pressure has huge benefits, including low ester formation, less dependence on temperature control, oxygen-free transfer and beer that is near- carbonated after fermentation. For homebrewers and small batch brewers, pressure fermentation allows for faster fermentation times.
Looking for an affordable, closed bottom pressure fermenter that will hold a 23L (6 gallon) batch of beer?
Chubby is perfect for 23L batches and still provides plenty of fermenter headspace. Great for beer kits, fresh wort kits and wine kits.
These rugged, durable PET pressure fermenters are made from the same crystal clear PET material as our entire line of pressure fermenters and unitanks. Plus they include stainless steel handles.
Chubby Apollo features the same hardware on the lid as a Ball Lock Keg and Apollo fermenter so gas and liquid are easily controlled for transfers, fermentation pressure and serving.
Brewers can still extract bright, clear beer after fermentation by way of the floating diptubes that come standard with each Chubby Apollo fermenter.
Chubby can be cleaned with your Corny Cleaner or simply soak in 50C or under of your favourite cleaning solution.
The super smooth interiors make it easy to remove fermentation debris, making clean up simple.
Dimensions:
Height = 595 to top of posts on the lid
Width = 300mm round
Add a SPUNDY to control the internal pressure of the fermenter.
After fermentation, you can carbonate your beer in the Chubby Apollo
Attach Chubby Apollo to your tap system or any hand held tap and serve directly out of the fermenter.
Alternatively, you can transfer carbonated beverages oxygen free easily from Chubby into a keg

As there were no reviews on this fermenter, I thought I would add one to help fellow homebrewers. I have completed 6 full mash brews using this fermenter. I have been very satisfied with the results and some of the beer has been drinkable at time of packaging as carbonation is already present.
I bought the fermenter as it fitted into my brewing fridge.
It is easy to clean- though must not be cleaned in hot water as the plastic gets damaged.
the lid has many different components and its a good idea to check everything is present before you brew each time to avoid getting caught out.
It works well with a spunding valve.
I found that the syphon tube was too long and needed to be shortened, otherwise the weight of beer in the tube starts to sink the filter end of the tube.
I also found that the end of the syphon tube became blocked with yeast debris on one occasion and needed to be flushed with CO2.
As I had to take the lid off to dry hop anyway, I have started fitting the syphon tube after fermentation to avoid this problem, then purging with co2
Chemsan makes the syphon tube slide on the metal attachments on the filter and the lid. I have not had the tube drop off yet but have taken the precaution of using sterilised cable ties at either attachment to provide a stronger hold.
closed transfer to a keg is a doddle
This fermenter definitely produces good beer.
There is no way of dumping the trub/yeast out of the bottom like some other fermenters but its size makes it work for me.
